Acura All-Wheel Drive Vehicles

Whether you like to off road or you want to stay safe in any conditions, Acura all-wheel drive vehicles can get Kentucky drivers where they need to go with reliable agility and stability. The Acura Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system is designed to distribute torque continuously between the front and rear wheels, reducing understeer by distributing up to 100% of rear power to one wheel. With constant monitoring, this advanced system detects and corrects torque imbalances before the driver notices any slippage, creating seamless traction in mud, snow, ice, sand, and a wide variety of additional road and weather conditions.

Conquer All Climates

There are not many three-row luxury crossovers, perhaps because the 2017 Acura MDX is such a smart buy. With seating for up to seven, some of the latest in luxury and technology amenities, and a powerful V6 engine under the hood, the MDX leaves many of its competitors looking outdated.

Its versatility is one of its main strengths, and that goes hand in hand with an available all-wheel drive system. The MDX can be had with Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) on any of its versions, and it can direct some of the engine’s 290 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels when extra grip is needed—whether that’s in rain, sleet, snow, or trampling a path off-road.

While many drivers have been wary of what an all-wheel drive system can do to an SUV’s fuel economy, recent advancements to Acura’s AWD vehicles have helped SH-AWD systems lose 25% of their weight and barely impact fuel economy at all. Through continuous monitoring of the vehicle’s traction, SH-AWD transitions power to rear wheels when needed and coasts on fuel-conserving front-wheel drive when the added traction isn’t needed.

Deliver Traction When You Need It Most

While the MDX fits seven, the 2017 Acura RDX comfortably seats up to five. Despite its being the smaller sibling to the MDX, Kentucky drivers still have a dependable 3.5L V6 under the hood (with 279 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque) as well as the option for All-Wheel Drive with Intelligent Control. Rather than needing to decide when to engage your all-wheel drive, this AWD Acura vehicle keeps an eye on the traction of the Kentucky roads for you.

Competing brands frequently force drivers to choose between running front- or all-wheel drive. The result? Either a consistent drain on the fuel economy or not having the traction you need when you need it. RDX AWD models use that intelligent control system to deliver traction when needed and keep your fuel economy high.

Like all of our Acura models, the RDX aims to be one of the most comfortable and luxurious vehicles in its class. Standard dual-level front seat heating, automatic climate control, and advanced tech connectivity (including Bluetooth for phone and audio) make the RDX as comfortable as it is capable.

Accelerate Through The Curve

The flagship sedan of the Acura lineup, the 2017 Acura RLX merges power and luxury into one—standard models even start off with Acura’s Technology Package built in, no need for an upgrade. When Kentucky drivers demand more than the 310-hp V6 engine powering the RLX, we have a solution: the 2017 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD.

If you bristle at the idea of a “hybrid” car being fun and powerful, we understand. Most hybrids are marketed as fuel sippers, and while the RLX Sport Hybrid does have a remarkable fuel economy, it also adds three electric motors onto the 310-hp V6 engine to bring a total output of 377 hp. The RLX Sport Hybrid also features SH-AWD for added control and tighter cornering.

What is it about Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive that helps improve the RLX’s performance? It’s called “torque vectoring,” and it’s unique to the SH-AWD system. When the RLX goes into a curve, SH-AWD will spin the outer wheels faster to help launch the car through the curve. While older SH-AWD systems required you to accelerate through the curve, the new RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD does it automatically.

Accelerated Thinking.

Corner Like a Race Car

The most recent addition to the Acura lineup, the Acura TLX is one of the most versatile as well. Drivers can choose from a standard 2.4L 4-cylinder engine or an available 3.5L V6, opting for power or more power. Both models have track-infused design elements that set them apart from the competition, too.

If you opt for the 2017 Acura TLX V6, you can add on Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) to the standard Precision All-Wheel Steer (P-AWS) for superior control. AWD benefits a sport sedan in two ways: increased traction during those Kentucky winters and improved dry-road handling when getting the most out of that 3.5L V6. 2017 TLX models with SH-AWD can send up to 90% of their traction to the front wheels when cruising, saving on fuel.

When it’s time to shift traction to the rear, as much as 45% of the engine’s power and up to 70% of its torque can be kicked to the back wheels or even to the rear outside wheel. The result is a sport sedan that corners like a race car and looks impeccable while doing it. In short, the result is typical of an Acura: power and beauty.
